FAQs
-
Concrete finishing is the process of treating the surface of freshly poured concrete to achieve the desired texture, smoothness, and durability. It ensures proper strength development, improves appearance, and helps prevent premature cracking or surface damage.
-
Finishing typically starts once the concrete has set enough so that water is no longer pooling on the surface (called “bleed water”). This usually occurs within 30 minutes to 2 hours after pouring, depending on temperature, humidity, and mix design.
-
Proper curing is critical. Keep the concrete moist after finishing (using water, curing compounds, or coverings) for at least 7 days. Avoid overworking the surface or finishing too soon, as this can weaken the top layer and lead to scaling or cracks.
