Skip Float Finish
A skip float concrete finish is achieved using a large flat tool called a skip float (or bull float), which is passed over freshly laid concrete before it fully sets. The skip float smooths out ridges, fills minor voids, and helps bring fine cement paste to the surface, creating a more even base.
This type of finish is typically used as an initial finishing stage before other processes, such as brush finishing or power floating. However, on outdoor areas like pavements, driveways, or farmyards, a simple skip float finish may be left as the final surface, giving a slightly textured, non-slip, and practical finish.
Skip float finishes are valued for being:
Quick and cost-effective
Durable for everyday use
Suitable for outdoor and utility areas
